Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The PTA is a part of the school community to which all parents automatically become members. It is headed by a committee and their function is to raise funds to provide additional resources and experiences which the children may not otherwise receive.

Fundraising is done in a variety of ways e.g. the almost obligatory cake sales, Christmas fayre, Bags2school, film nights, discos, quiz night and summer extravaganza. Although co-ordinated by the committee, many of these events couldn’t possibly take place without the support and help of a band of willing helpers. Our current motto being ‘many hands make light work’.

Requests for funds come from the teachers, often for events which reinforce the curriculum e.g. the opportunity to experience what it might have been like in a particular time in history, or participating in an art or design technology project. However, it also provides funds for more fun activities e.g. developing circus skills performances by travelling theatre groups and designing a cow for the Cows about Cambridge project. Without the PTA, the majority of these events would either not take place or would be dependent on direct contributions from parents.  The PTA also contribute to bigger projects -most recently in we organised provision of new iPads for the school.
